Updated: Mar 29, 2021

A webinar to encourage Women Detached Youth workers to celebrate #IWD20201 and #ChoosetoChallenge and to discuss the issues that are affecting women, in particular women youth workers on the street.

Sharena Lee Satti a young poet from Bradford read 3 of her poems, sharing her life experiences: Damaged Goods, Balance, Kindness is not a Weakness. Her book SHE is out now.

Kerry Jenkins CYPW Unite talked about how women have been involved in community organising throughout history, their role in challenging inequalities in employment and being members of Trade Unions which lead to the development of the Community and Youth Work Union.

Ruth Ware one of our trustees; shared historical information about International Women's Day and how women have made their mark in the past and how we came to the IWD that we know today.

Participants enthusiastically shared their stories (co-working, working with young people, keeping safe, reflection and recording etc) . It was lovely to see that many would like to make this a regular meet up and create a supportive forum

I value the interesting and organized analysis. One significant development is the impact of interactive digital services on user engagement. The website has further background information on this subject. The examples given offer useful perspectives on the advancement of the sector.
